Local Data - in Excel format

To run the local data, you will need to download the data file and then unzip it to you local system.  Click on the Local Data link and then select the 'Save' option. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the data and click Save.  After the file has been downloaded click 'Close'

In Windows Explorer (Start | All Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer) navigate to this folder and right click on the file 'localdata.zip'.  Click on the 'Extract all files' option and then the next button.  Select the folder you want to use and click on Next.  When the files have been extracted click on the 'Finish' button. Finally load Excel and from within Excel load the spreadsheet 'News06_LocalDataByYear'.  The spreadsheet will give court level data by area, court type, offence type for the years 1999-2005. The spreadsheet uses macros, and you may be presented with a message warning that macros can contain viruses. If so then select 'Enable macros' to continue. If you cannot enable macros then contact your system administrator

The offence level data is too large for our website. It is available on CD-ROM; please contact the Sentencing Guidelines Secretariat on 020 7084 8130 if you require a copy.
